BOOK ON CUSTOMS AND TABOOS OF ETHNIC GROUPS IN SABAH LAUNCHED

KOTA KINABALU: Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun launched the book ‘Customs and Taboos of the Ethnic groups in Sabah’  at a leading hotel here yesterday afternoon.

The book  highlights  the different customs and taboos practised traditionally by the various Sabah ethnic groups, namely the Kadazan of Penampang, Bajau sama, Iranun, Bisaya and  Runggus Dusun Bonggi.

Published by the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Sabah branch, the book was authored by five writers. They are Rita Lasimbang (Kadazan Penampang), Hajah Siti Aidah Lokin (Bisaya), Raymond Majumah (Rungus and Bonggi), Abdul Naddin Shaiddin (Iranun) and Radik Taim (Bajau Sama).

Masidi said Sabah is blessed with rich traditions, customs and taboos from more than 32 recognised ethnic groups and it’s a treasure that should be safeguarded.-/PENERANGAN
