KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu folks will have again
the chance to enjoy a four nights Christmas celebration beginning December 10
at Lintasan Deasoka, Gaya Street.
Mayor
of Kota Kinabalu City Hall, Datuk Abidin Madingki said the celebration would be
jointly organized by the Sabah Council of Churches and Kota Kinabalu City Hall
for the 8th year with supporting fund from the state government.
Chief
Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman is expected to officiate the annual
event.
Bringing
“The Star of Great Joy” as the celebration’s theme, Gaya Christmas Celebration
2013 aims to promote the message of Joy, Peace, Hope and Love by presenting
various performances from the churches, government and social agencies
throughout the four night’s carnival.
Abidin
said this year’s celebration is unique and everyone regardless of religion
should attend the event to feel the joy of Christmas preparation while spending
quality time with their families.
“The
joy of Christmas is not only for Christian but it is for everybody to enjoy and
share the celebration together,” he added.
On
the other note, Abidin also said that the four days carnival would target 100
thousand visitors including the locals and tourists.
He
hopes that the local hotel operators would promote the carnival to their guests.
All
visitors will have the chance to enjoy children performances; drama and
singing; Yap Ling String which involves majority of children; choir and key to
music Ukelele group.
More
than 300 stalls would be opened during the carnival and visitors will get to
taste the various local foods from the hawker stalls, also to buy the native
handicrafts with different tropicalized colors as souvenir.-/PENERANGAN
