Draft KK Local Plan 2020 Workshop - Launching Ceremony


KOTA KINABALU: The “Kota Kinabalu Structure Plan 2030” and the “Draft KK Local Plan 2020” shall be used to guide the Urban Planning and the Development Control for Kota Kinabalu City, said the Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department, Datuk Ir. Edward Yong Oui Fah.

Edward said, two important town plan documents has been produced by the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), adding that the “KK Structure Plan 2030” is the long term strategic which covers the most ranges of Town Planning Strategies and Policies to guide Kota Kinabalu City towards the Nature Resort and Maritime City by Year 2030.

Edward was speaking during the launching ceremony of the Draft Kota Kinabalu Local Plan 2020 Workshop at Promenade Hotel, this morning.

In his speech, Edward explained that the new statutory planning document of the Draft KK Local Plan 2020 and its memorandum were prepared in accordance to Section 6 of the Town and Country Planning Ordinance, Sabah Cap.141.

“Once the Draft KK Local Plan 2020 adopted by The Central Board, it will officially supersede the old draft schemes which include the Draft Greater Kota Kinabalu Scheme (1978), Draft Kota Kinabalu Comprehensive Development Plan (1984) and the series of Draft Kota Kinabalu Local Plans (1990)”, he said.

He also added that for any development plan submissions to DBKK, it shall be aligned with the new land use and zoning as shown in the Draft KK Local Plan 2020.

Edward, who is also the Minister in-charge of DBKK, said the workshop conducted by DBKK is to strengthen the planning policies and standard of the Draft KK Local Plan 2020 by gathering the inputs from the professional bodies, NGOs and government agencies who had attended the workshop.

“This workshop has also demonstrates DBKK, as the local authority under the Chief Minister’s Department, is practicing professionalism and transparency for the wellbeing of the stakeholder and the next generation,” he added.-/PENERANGAN
